In 2022, shipments abroad of rare gases (excluding argon) decreased by -2.1% to X cubic meters, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 481% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, rare gases exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 253% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Iran (X cubic meters), the UK (X cubic meters) and Germany (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of rare gases exports from Oman, with a combined 63% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +99.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for rare gases exported from Oman were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Iran ($X), with a combined 87% share of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Iran, with a CAGR of +37.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average rare gases export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+54.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of rare gases (excluding argon) imported into Oman totaled X cubic meters, leveling off at the year before. Overall, imports showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 246%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, rare gases imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 239%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) was the main supplier of rare gases to Oman, accounting for a 91% share of total imports.
