The Omani market for refractory bricks, blocks and tiles reduced markedly to $X in 2021, which is down by -20.8% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption recorded a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 116%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, refractory bricks, blocks and tiles imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 104%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
