Register Book Market Size in Oman

The Omani register book market contracted to $X in 2022, declining by -8.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption showed slight growth. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of registers, account books, order books and receipt books increased by 53% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 188% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, register book exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 311% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Yemen (X tons) was the main destination for register book exports from Oman, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, register book exports to Yemen exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Somalia (X tons), threefold. Qatar (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.7% share.

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, register book imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of register book to Oman, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, register book imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), ninefold. Indonesia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3% share.
