Silicone Market Size in Oman

The Omani silicone market shrank remarkably to $X in 2021, declining by -25.1% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In value terms, silicone exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,002% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Yemen (X tons) was the main destination for silicone exports from Oman, accounting for a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, silicone exports to Yemen exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X kg), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Qatar (X kg), with a 14% share.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 89%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, silicone imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 115%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), China (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of silicone imports to Oman, together comprising 67% of total imports. The Netherlands, Malaysia, Italy and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
