The Omani soft drink market expanded sharply to $X in 2021, growing by 12% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a resilient increase. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, soft drink exports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 574%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Kuwait (X litres), Yemen (X litres) and the United Arab Emirates (X litres) were the main destinations of soft drink exports from Oman, together accounting for 62% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Kuwait (with a CAGR of +588.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kuwait ($X), Qatar ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for soft drink exported from Oman worldwide, with a combined 60% share of total exports.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +573.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average soft drink export price stood at $X per litre in 2021, dropping by -11.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 47%. The export price peaked at $X per litre in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Oman
In 2021, the amount of soft drinks imported into Oman fell notably to X litres, with a decrease of -33.1% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 37%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, soft drink imports declined significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of soft drink to Oman, with a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, soft drink imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X litres), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kuwait (X litres), with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates totaled -1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+12.8% per year) and Kuwait (+11.6% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of soft drink to Oman, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the United Arab Emirates amounted to -5.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+10.8% per year) and Indonesia (+8.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average soft drink import price stood at $X per litre in 2021, shrinking by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per litre), while the price for Kuwait ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
