In 2022, after five years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of vegetable products, when their volume decreased by -4.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 623%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, vegetable product imports declined markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 864%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Sudan (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of vegetable product imports to Oman, with a combined 74% share of total imports. Tanzania, Bahrain, Qatar and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Tanzania (with a CAGR of +353.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vegetable products to Oman, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 16% share.
