Aluminium Alloy Wire Market Size in Pakistan

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in the Pakistani aluminium alloy wire market, when its value decreased by -25.2% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, showed a prominent expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In 2022, approx. X tons of aluminium alloy wire were exported from Pakistan; surging by 15% against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports enjoyed notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 411% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium alloy wire exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 310%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tons) was the main destination for aluminium alloy wire exports from Pakistan, accounting for a 84% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium alloy wire exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X kg), more than tenfold. France (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled +80.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-12.9% per year) and France (+2.6% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for aluminium alloy wire exported from Pakistan were the United States ($X), Belgium ($X) and Australia ($X), together comprising 71% of total exports. Canada and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Among the main countries of destination, Canada, with a CAGR of +33.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average aluminium alloy wire export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium alloy wire export price increased by +1.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 72%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Pakistan

In 2022, after ten years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of aluminium alloy wire, when their volume decreased by -43.5% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 215%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium alloy wire imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 138% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest aluminium alloy wire supplier to Pakistan, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, aluminium alloy wire imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tons), fivefold. Malaysia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +29.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+64.6% per year) and Malaysia (+46.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium alloy wire to Pakistan, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 7.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +30.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+30.4% per year) and Indonesia (+52.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average aluminium alloy wire import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
