Over the period under review, imports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, animal feed imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of animal feed imports to Pakistan, with a combined 46% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United States, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, France, Turkey, Spain and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +51.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest animal feed suppliers to Pakistan were China ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 40% of total imports.
