In value terms, chewing gum exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +62.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 48%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Afghanistan (X tons) was the main destination for chewing gum exports from Pakistan, accounting for a 26% share of total exports. Moreover, chewing gum exports to Afghanistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Somalia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kenya (X tons), with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Afghanistan was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Somalia (+44.1% per year) and Kenya (+47.7% per year).
In value terms, Afghanistan ($X) remains the key foreign market for chewing gum exports from Pakistan, comprising 28% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Somalia ($X), with an 8.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Yemen, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Afghanistan amounted to +1.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Somalia (+32.6% per year) and Yemen (+43.9% per year).

In 2021, the average chewing gum export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Chewing gum imports into Pakistan reduced modestly to X tons in 2021, approximately reflecting 2020 figures. Overall, imports showed a deep downturn. In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of chewing gum to Pakistan, accounting for a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, chewing gum imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X tons), threefold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates amounted to +1.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+4.1% per year) and Turkey (+60.7% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of chewing gum to Pakistan, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 6.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 4.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United Arab Emirates stood at +9.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+53.6% per year) and Vietnam (+18.4% per year).

In 2021, the average chewing gum import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 77% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
