Chicken Table Egg Market Size in Pakistan

The Pakistani chicken table egg market declined to $X in 2022, which is down by -7.5% against the previous year. Afghanistan (X tons) was the main destination for chicken table egg exports from Pakistan, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, chicken table egg exports to Afghanistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), twofold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4% share.

In value terms, Afghanistan ($X) remains the key foreign market for chicken table eggs exports from Pakistan, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Afghanistan totaled +100.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+120.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+137.1% per year).

The average chicken table egg export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -11.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 2.7% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (-7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of chicken table eggs, when their volume increased by 40% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a dramatic contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 638% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chicken table egg imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 400% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main supplier of chicken table egg to Pakistan, accounting for a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, chicken table egg imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sri Lanka (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates totaled -24.2%.
