For the third year in a row, Pakistan recorded growth in supplies from abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, which increased by 57% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 67%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, imines imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), China (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of imines imports to Pakistan, together accounting for 95% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, which accounted for a further 3.9%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +97.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), China ($X) and India ($X) were the largest imines suppliers to Pakistan, with a combined 94% share of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, which accounted for a further 4.3%.

The average imines import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -21.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
