Italy (X tons), China (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) were the main destinations of bovine and equine leather exports from Pakistan, together comprising 52% of total exports. These countries were followed by Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia, Spain, South Africa, Portugal, Turkey, South Korea and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 36%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +5.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Pakistan

In 2021, the amount of leather of bovine and equine animals imported into Pakistan fell to X tons, shrinking by -7.8% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 31%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
