Exports by Country
Sri Lanka (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) were the main destinations of lime exports from Pakistan, together comprising 100% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +59.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for lime exported from Pakistan were Sri Lanka ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Nigeria ($X), together accounting for 100% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +67.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lime export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 71%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+44.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of lime increased by 14% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 504%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, lime imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 427% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), the UK (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of lime imports to Pakistan, together comprising 60% of total imports. Spain, Italy, Japan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Malaysia and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +419.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest lime suppliers to Pakistan, with a combined 63% share of total imports. China, Spain, Japan, France, Malaysia, Vietnam and Afghanistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
Among the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +291.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average lime import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -13.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 21%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Afghanistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
