Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles exports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 240%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X kg) was the main destination for non-woven glass fibre articles exports from Pakistan, accounting for a 88% share of total exports. Moreover, non-woven glass fibre articles exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Afghanistan (X kg), more than tenfold. Canada (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.3% share.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards exports from Pakistan, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Afghanistan ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 1.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Pakistan
In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards increased by 38% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded resilient growth. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +57.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Japan (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-woven glass fibre articles imports to Pakistan, with a combined 93% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of +30.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), Thailand ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) were the largest non-woven glass fibre articles suppliers to Pakistan, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
