The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for green peas exports from Pakistan, accounting for a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, green peas exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X tons), more than tenfold. Oman (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at -16.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+5.5% per year) and Oman (+21.3% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for peas (green) exports from Pakistan, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Qatar ($X), with a 6.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with a 5.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United Arab Emirates stood at -11.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+14.6% per year) and Oman (+28.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average green peas export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 60%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In value terms, green peas imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
