In value terms, lubricant additives exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 427% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Oman (X tons) were the main destinations of lubricant additives exports from Pakistan, together comprising 70% of total exports. These countries were followed by Ethiopia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 23%.

Lubricant additives imports into Pakistan expanded sharply to X tons in 2021, increasing by 8% on the year before. Over the period under review, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -9.8% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. In 2021, Singapore (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lubricant additives to Pakistan, with a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, lubricant additives imports from Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (X tons), with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Singapore amounted to +6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-5.3% per year) and China (+23.2% per year).
