In 2022, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of rare gases (excluding argon), when their volume increased by 233% to X cubic meters. In general, exports, however, recorded a precipitous slump. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, rare gases exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a dramatic contraction. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) and France (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of rare gases exports from Pakistan. Moreover, rare gases exports in the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, France, twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of -9.0%).

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for rare gases (excluding argon) exports from Pakistan, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 33% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to France amounted to +5.9%.

Export Prices by Country

The average rare gases export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 72% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates amounted to $X per cubic meter.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+16.6%).

Imports into Pakistan

In 2022, imports of rare gases (excluding argon) into Pakistan expanded remarkably to X cubic meters, picking up by 15% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 92%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, rare gases imports reached $X in 2022. In general, imports saw moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 125% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases to Pakistan, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, rare gases imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X cubic meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Algeria (X cubic meters), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates stood at -12.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-1.5% per year) and Algeria (+30.3% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases (excluding argon) to Pakistan, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United Arab Emirates was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+7.6% per year) and Algeria (+43.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average rare gases import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, shrinking by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Turkey ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
