The Pakistani reclaimed rubber market fell to $X in 2021, waning by -7.8% against the previous year. In 2021, overseas shipments of reclaimed rubber increased by 56% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after four years of decline. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 7,479%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 4,122%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Qatar (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of reclaimed rubber exports from Pakistan, together accounting for 90% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +125.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Norway ($X) remains the key foreign market for reclaimed rubber exports from Pakistan, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Norway amounted to +52.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+72.2% per year) and Qatar (+50.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 492%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (-5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Pakistan
In 2021, supplies from abroad of reclaimed rubber increased by 8.1% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X tons), China (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of reclaimed rubber imports to Pakistan, with a combined 64% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Qatar, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +39.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Qatar ($X) constituted the largest reclaimed rubber suppliers to Pakistan, together comprising 76% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Qatar, with a CAGR of +35.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -16.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
