From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, stranded wire exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 166%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Afghanistan (X tons) were the main destinations of stranded wire exports from Pakistan, together accounting for 72% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +38.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Afghanistan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for stranded wire exported from Pakistan worldwide, with a combined 69% share of total exports.
Germany, with a CAGR of +41.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average stranded wire export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 359% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+22.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Pakistan
In 2021, supplies from abroad of stranded wire, ropes and cables decreased by -63.5% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, stranded wire imports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of stranded wire to Pakistan, with a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, stranded wire imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), more than tenfold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +14.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+8.3% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+8.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of stranded wire, ropes and cables to Pakistan, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 6.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 2.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+3.9% per year) and Malaysia (-6.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average stranded wire import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 25%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
