Textile Tubing Market Size in Panama

In 2022, the Panamanian textile tubing market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing decreased by -5.4% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports saw a dramatic slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 116%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, textile tubing exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 95%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Dominican Republic (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) were the main destinations of textile tubing exports from Panama, together accounting for 29% of total exports. Costa Rica, Guyana, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Spain, Honduras, Colombia and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +35.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for textile tubing exported from Panama were the United States ($X), the Dominican Republic ($X) and Uruguay ($X), together comprising 30% of total exports. Costa Rica, Guyana, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Chile, Honduras, Spain and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +38.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average textile tubing export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 73%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guyana (+21.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Panama

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing increased by 130% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a dramatic setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 163% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, textile tubing imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a dramatic descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 355% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of textile tubing to Panama, accounting for a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, textile tubing imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fivefold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled -27.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-15.6% per year) and Spain (+8.5% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of textile hosepiping and similar textile tubing to Panama, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at -24.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-17.8% per year) and Spain (+12.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average textile tubing import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -26% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 73%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+20.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
