Cuba (X kg) was the main destination for welded and cold-formed steel sections exports from Panama, with a 93% share of total exports. It was followed by Jamaica (X kg), with a 2.5% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Honduras (X kg), with a 1.5% share.

Imports into Panama
In 2022, imports of welded and cold-formed sections of steel into Panama declined modestly to X tons, remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 1,236%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, welded and cold-formed steel sections imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 1,065% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. China (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) were the main suppliers of welded and cold-formed steel sections imports to Panama, with a combined 82% share of total imports. Germany, Turkey, Free Zones and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +79.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
