Free Zones (X tons) was the main destination for articles of fiber cement exports from Peru, with a 72% share of total exports. Chile (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Free Zones stood at +34.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ecuador (-14.3% per year) and Chile (-44.2% per year).

In value terms, Free Zones ($X) remains the key foreign market for articles of asbestos-cement, cellulose fiber-cement or the like exports from Peru, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ecuador ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Free Zones amounted to +31.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ecuador (-13.6% per year) and Chile (-39.9% per year).

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 139%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, articles of fiber cement imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 177% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Ecuador (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Chile (X tons) were the main suppliers of articles of fiber cement imports to Peru, with a combined 74% share of total imports. Bolivia and Colombia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bolivia (with a CAGR of +143.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ecuador ($X), Bolivia ($X) and Colombia ($X) were the largest articles of fiber cement suppliers to Peru, together comprising 60% of total imports.
