Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, banana and plantain imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 1,261% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Chile (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of banana and plantain to Peru, accounting for a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, banana and plantain imports from Chile exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), twofold.
