Borates Market Size in Peru

The Peruvian borates market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, rising by 144% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Honduras (X tons) were the main destinations of borates exports from Peru, with a combined 29% share of total exports. The United States, Colombia, Vietnam, New Zealand, South Africa, Poland, Spain, Pakistan, Costa Rica and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +45.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average borates export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, borates export price increased by +67.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of borates increased by 12% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 113%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
