In value terms, other cereals exports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Peru, accounting for a 29% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 6.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States amounted to +8.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+23.2% per year) and the Netherlands (+30.8% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Peru, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Canada ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +5.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+19.5% per year) and the Netherlands (+25.9% per year).

The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -17% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 45%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Peru
For the fifth consecutive year, Peru recorded growth in overseas purchases of other cerealses, which increased by 64% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 258%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, other cereals imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 146% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Canada (X tons) constituted the largest other cereals supplier to Peru, with a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), sevenfold. Ecuador (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada stood at +21.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-3.2% per year) and Ecuador (+213.7% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Peru, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Canada ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Bolivia, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States amounted to +10.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Canada (+21.0% per year) and Bolivia (+31.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
