Chile (X tons) was the main destination for cheese and curd exports from Peru, with a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by Aruba (X tons), with a 2.5% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Chile totaled +43.9%.
In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the key foreign market for cheese and curd exports from Peru, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Aruba ($X), with a 1% share of total exports.

In 2022, the average cheese and curd export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 19% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Aruba totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (-0.1%).

Imports into Peru
In 2022, the amount of cheese and curd imported into Peru fell to X tons, shrinking by -13.2% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of cheese and curd imports to Peru, together accounting for 64% of total imports. Argentina, the Netherlands, Mexico, Chile, Italy, Spain, France and New Zealand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +148.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Uruguay ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest cheese and curd suppliers to Peru, together comprising 61% of total imports. The Netherlands, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Italy, Spain, France and New Zealand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +132.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cheese and curd import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 8.6%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
