Direct Dye Market Size in Peru

After two years of decline, the Peruvian direct dye market increased by 66% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine years. In 2021, direct dye exports from Peru expanded significantly to X tons, surging by 11% on 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 108% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, direct dye exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Bolivia (X kg), Ecuador (X kg) and Guatemala (X kg) were the main destinations of direct dye exports from Peru, with a combined 99% share of total exports.

From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Bolivia ($X per ton) and Guatemala ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($X per ton) and Colombia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Direct dye imports into Peru skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, rising by 63% on the previous year. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +73.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, direct dye imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. India (X tons), Spain (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of direct dye imports to Peru, with a combined 85% share of total imports. Thailand, South Korea, the Netherlands and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +189.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest direct dye suppliers to Peru were India ($X), China ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Thailand, the Netherlands, South Korea and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Among the main suppliers, South Korea, with a CAGR of +159.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average direct dye import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 31%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
