As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, pasta products exports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 69% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Chile (X tons) was the main destination for pasta products exports from Peru, with a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States (X tons), with a 2.1% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Chile totaled +13.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+7.5% per year) and Spain (-6.0% per year).
In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the key foreign market for dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products exports from Peru, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Chile totaled +10.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+10.2% per year) and Spain (-8.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average pasta products export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Panama (+21.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Peru
In 2022, after four years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products, when their volume decreased by -2.1% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 57%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, pasta products imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 64%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of pasta products imports to Peru, with a combined 68% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +56.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and South Korea ($X) appeared to be the largest pasta products suppliers to Peru, together accounting for 65% of total imports. Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
Among the main suppliers, Brazil, with a CAGR of +52.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average pasta products import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -6.8% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, pasta products import price increased by +23.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
