Capacitor Market Size in Peru

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Peruvian capacitor market, when its value decreased by -43.9% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption saw a pronounced descent. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas shipments of electrical capacitors increased by 68% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Colombia (X kg) was the main destination for capacitor exports from Peru, accounting for a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, capacitor exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X kg), threefold. Mexico (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.8% share.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Costa Rica, with a CAGR of +77.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average capacitor export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -15.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X tons of electrical capacitors were imported into Peru; which is down by -49.1% on 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 241% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, capacitor imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 131%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of capacitor to Peru, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, capacitor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X tons), with a 9.3% share.

These countries were followed by Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Argentina, India, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 33%.

Chile, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average capacitor import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
