For the fourth year in a row, Peru recorded growth in shipments abroad of industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of confectionery, cocoa or chocolate, which increased by 11% to X units in 2022. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 86%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, confectionery-making industrial machinery exports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 139%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Colombia (X units), Ecuador (X units) and Mexico (X units) were the main destinations of confectionery-making industrial machinery exports from Peru, with a combined 42% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +19.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ecuador ($X), Colombia ($X) and Bolivia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for confectionery-making industrial machinery exported from Peru worldwide, with a combined 41% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Venezuela, Guatemala, the Netherlands, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Norway, Nicaragua, Chile and Costa Rica, which together accounted for a further 32%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +152.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average confectionery-making industrial machinery export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 116% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+137.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Peru

In 2022, the amount of industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of confectionery, cocoa or chocolate imported into Peru skyrocketed to X units, rising by 85% on the previous year. In general, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 219%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, confectionery-making industrial machinery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 146% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Italy (X units), China (X units) and Chile (X units) were the main suppliers of confectionery-making industrial machinery imports to Peru, with a combined 43% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +38.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest confectionery-making industrial machinery suppliers to Peru were Italy ($X), Chile ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 40% of total imports. China, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, the UK, Colombia, Spain, Argentina and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Colombia, with a CAGR of +45.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average confectionery-making industrial machinery import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -9.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
