Paper Label Market Size in Peru
The Peruvian paper label market contracted slightly to $X in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Paper label exports from Peru surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 15% compared with 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, paper label exports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 43%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Ecuador (X tons) was the main destination for paper label exports from Peru, accounting for a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, paper label exports to Ecuador exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Colombia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Bolivia (X tons), with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ecuador stood at +5.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (-10.5% per year) and Bolivia (-18.5% per year).
In value terms, Ecuador ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for labels of paper or paperboard exports from Peru, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Bolivia, with a 2.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ecuador totaled +4.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (-9.6% per year) and Bolivia (-23.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average paper label export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Peru
In 2021, the amount of labels of paper or paperboard imported into Peru surged to X tons, jumping by 19% against the year before. In general, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 185% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, paper label imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of paper label imports to Peru, together accounting for 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by Chile, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, South Korea, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +100.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constituted the largest supplier of labels of paper or paperboard to Peru, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Hong Kong SAR totaled +15.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+12.9% per year) and the United States (+2.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average paper label import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 30% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
