Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
The United States (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of mango and mangosteen exports from Peru, together comprising 70% of total exports. The UK, Canada, Russia, South Korea, Chile and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mango and mangosteen exported from Peru were the United States ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and South Korea ($X), together accounting for 64% of total exports. Spain, the UK, Canada, France, Russia and Chile lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
Among the main countries of destination, Russia, with a CAGR of +38.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mango and mangosteen export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mango And Mangosteen Imports
Imports into Peru
In 2022, the amount of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas imported into Peru reduced sharply to X tons, declining by -40.5% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports faced a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 508% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a sharp descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 402%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest mango and mangosteen supplier to Peru, with a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, mango and mangosteen imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X kg), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK amounted to -24.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (-1.0% per year) and the United States (-38.0% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas to Peru, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the UK amounted to -22.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+1.1% per year) and the United States (-37.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average mango and mangosteen import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 108%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
