Matches Market Size in Peru

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Peruvian matches market, when its value increased by 14% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. Matches consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Peru

In 2021, matches exports from Peru expanded to X tons, surging by 3.5% on 2020 figures. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 66%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, matches imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 64%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of matches imports to Peru, with a combined 98% share of total imports.
