The Peruvian non-domestic dryer market soared to $X in 2021, picking up by 28% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a slight curtailment. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Non-domestic dryer exports from Peru contracted dramatically to X units in 2021, with a decrease of -68.6% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 500%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports declined dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 612%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Colombia (X units), Bolivia (X units) and Panama (X units) were the main destinations of non-domestic dryer exports from Peru, with a combined 64% share of total exports. The Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brazil, Guatemala, Ecuador, Spain, Free Zones and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +62.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Colombia ($X), Panama ($X) and Bolivia ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-domestic dryer exported from Peru worldwide, with a combined 63% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Free Zones, Guatemala, Venezuela, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain and Costa Rica, which together accounted for a further 27%.

The Dominican Republic, with a CAGR of +52.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average non-domestic dryer export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 7.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 39%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Free Zones ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Costa Rica ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guatemala (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Peru

In 2021, approx. X units of non-domestic dryers were imported into Peru; rising by 50% on the year before. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 85% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest non-domestic dryer supplier to Peru, accounting for a 43% share of total imports. Moreover, non-domestic dryer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X units), with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +7.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+0.8% per year) and Italy (-12.5% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), the United States ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the largest non-domestic dryer suppliers to Peru, together comprising 47% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +82.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
