The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +73.8% against 2014 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest plastic plate, sheet, film, foil and strip supplier to Peru, accounting for a 27% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), twofold. Ecuador (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.8% share.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +11.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (-1.6% per year) and the United States (+1.4% per year).
