In 2022, approx. X tons of polycarbonates (in primary forms) were exported from Peru; with a decrease of -23.3% compared with 2021. In general, total exports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. After three years of decline, purchases abroad of polycarbonates (in primary forms) increased by 3.4% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 110%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polycarbonate imports rose to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of polycarbonate to Peru, accounting for a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, polycarbonate imports from Saudi Arabia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Korea (X tons), with a 21% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Saudi Arabia stood at +13.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+18.9% per year) and South Korea (+40.6% per year).
