The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 156%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for quinoa exports from Peru, with a 24% share of total exports. Moreover, quinoa exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 5.4% share.

In 2021, the average quinoa export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -16.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 46% against the previous year. In value terms, quinoa imports declined significantly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The smallest decline of -19.1% was in 2015. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2020, Canada (X tons) constituted the largest quinoa supplier to Peru, with a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, quinoa imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ecuador (X kg), tenfold. Bolivia (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.7% share.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada stood at +17.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ecuador (+43.2% per year) and Bolivia (+91.9% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X), Bolivia ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest quinoa suppliers to Peru, with a combined 47% share of total imports.
