Refined Coconut Oil Market Size in Peru

The Peruvian refined coconut oil market fell modestly to $X in 2022, declining by -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a perceptible reduction. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refined coconut oil exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 817%. Chile (X kg) was the main destination for refined coconut oil exports from Peru, accounting for a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, refined coconut oil exports to Chile exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X kg), twofold.

In value terms, Chile ($X) and Canada ($X) were the largest markets for refined coconut oil exported from Peru worldwide.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile stood at $X per ton.

Imports into Peru

In 2022, purchases abroad of refined coconut (copra) oil was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 203% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refined coconut oil imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 169%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main suppliers of refined coconut oil imports to Peru, together accounting for 58% of total imports. The Philippines, Chile, the United States and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +32.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest refined coconut oil suppliers to Peru were Mexico ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 47% of total imports.
