Paddy Rice Market Size in Peru

Exports from Peru
Paddy rice exports from Peru declined markedly to X kg in 2021, waning by -76.6% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 288%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paddy rice exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 434% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X kg), Chile (X kg) and Germany (X kg) were the main destinations of paddy rice exports from Peru.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Chile (with a CAGR of +73.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for paddy rice exports from Peru, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average paddy rice export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -7.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 60%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Peru
In 2021, supplies from abroad of paddy rice decreased by -0.3% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 423%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Spain (X tons), China (X kg) and Colombia (X kg) were the main suppliers of paddy rice imports to Peru, together comprising 99.9% of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
