Exports from the Philippines
In 2022, shipments abroad of coconut (copra) oil increased by 17% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 49%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, coconut oil exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), the United States (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of coconut oil exports from the Philippines, together accounting for 65% of total exports. Malaysia, Italy, Japan, Indonesia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +17.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, imports of coconut (copra) oil into the Philippines surged to X tons, jumping by 116% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 9,473% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, coconut oil imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 4,813% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Singapore (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main suppliers of coconut oil imports to the Philippines, with a combined 77% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +121.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest coconut oil suppliers to the Philippines were Singapore ($X), the United States ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined 77% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, the United States, with a CAGR of +128.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
