In value terms, preserved fish fillet exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The United States (X tons) was the main destination for preserved fish fillet exports from the Philippines, accounting for a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, preserved fish fillet exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 7% share.
From 2017 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at -9.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-40.2% per year) and the Netherlands (-25.1% per year).

The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 11% share.
From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States totaled +2.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-14.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+8.0% per year).

The average preserved fish fillet export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 138% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a significant increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 4,598% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
