From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Japan stood at -5.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+17.6% per year) and the United States (+3.9% per year).

In 2021, the average hand tools export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 31%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of hand tools increased by 14% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hand tools imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 98% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main suppliers of hand tools imports to the Philippines, with a combined 78% share of total imports.
