In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fruit or nut preserves exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from the Philippines, together accounting for 54% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, the Netherlands and New Zealand, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +14.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), South Korea ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for fruit or nut preserves exported from the Philippines worldwide, together comprising 49% of total exports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, the Netherlands and New Zealand, which together accounted for a further 40%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fruit or nut preserves export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Philippines
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes, when their volume decreased by -4.1% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 253% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fruit or nut preserves imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 198%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest fruit or nut preserves supplier to the Philippines, with a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, fruit or nut preserves imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), threefold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +23.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+22.9% per year) and the United States (-7.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes to the Philippines, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +30.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+52.2% per year) and the United States (+6.3% per year).

The average fruit or nut preserves import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 8.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 44%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
