From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Korea (X kg) was the main destination for lettuce and chicory exports from the Philippines, accounting for a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, lettuce and chicory exports to South Korea exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates (X kg), with a 6% share.
From 2017 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to South Korea stood at +244.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+23.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+68.7% per year).
In value terms, South Korea ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for lettuce and chicory exports from the Philippines, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 3.6% share.
From 2017 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to South Korea stood at +141.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+11.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+29.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average lettuce and chicory export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 382% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
