Winding Wire Market Size in the Philippines

The Philippine winding wire market reduced markedly to $X in 2022, waning by -20.4% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, posted prominent growth. Winding wire consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, winding wire exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 86%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main destinations of winding wire exports from the Philippines, with a combined 82% share of total exports.

From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Winding wire imports into the Philippines reduced sharply to X tons in 2022, waning by -22.7% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, winding wire imports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main suppliers of winding wire imports to the Philippines, together accounting for 64% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +36.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, winding wire import price increased by +81.4% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 26%.
