Antisera Market Size in Poland

In 2021, the Polish antisera market decreased by less than 0.1% to $X for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 86%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, antisera exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 206% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Israel (X tons) was the main destination for antisera exports from Poland, accounting for a 37% share of total exports. Moreover, antisera exports to Israel exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), twofold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Israel amounted to +111.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+234.0% per year) and Spain (-10.2% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for antisera exported from Poland worldwide, together comprising 28% of total exports.

France, with a CAGR of +459.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average antisera export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 8.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 237%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Poland

In 2021, the amount of antisera and other blood fractions imported into Poland surged to X tons, jumping by 19% against 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 20%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, antisera imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), China (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of antisera imports to Poland, together comprising 70% of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark and the United States, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +56.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of antisera and other blood fractions to Poland, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 5% share.

The average antisera import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -14.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 113%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
