In value terms, apricot exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports faced a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Ukraine (X tons) was the main destination for apricot exports from Poland, accounting for a 72% share of total exports. Moreover, apricot exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), sixfold. Belarus (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ukraine totaled -16.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+87.9% per year) and Belarus (-18.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for apricot exported from Poland were Ukraine ($X), Germany ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 88% of total exports.

Germany, with a CAGR of +98.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average apricot export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -7.7% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, apricot export price increased by +23.0% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 146%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Greece (X tons) were the main suppliers of apricot imports to Poland, together comprising 69% of total imports. Germany, Serbia, France and Moldova lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 31%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
