Plaster Article Market Size in Poland

In 2021, the Polish plaster article market decreased by -26.9% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after six years of growth. In general, the total consumption indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption decreased by -28.8% against 2019 indices. Plaster article consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plaster article production declined markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 16% against the previous year. Plaster article production peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In 2021, exports of articles of plaster or of compositions based on plaster from Poland soared to X tons, jumping by 18% compared with 2020. In general, total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +143.5% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, plaster article exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +118.3% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main destinations of plaster article exports from Poland, together accounting for 55% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Belgium, the UK, Lithuania, Romania, France, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +98.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Hungary ($X) and Slovakia ($X) were the largest markets for plaster article exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined 60% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, the UK, Belgium, Lithuania, Romania, France, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

The UK, with a CAGR of +83.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average plaster article export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plaster Article Imports

Imports into Poland

In 2021, overseas purchases of articles of plaster or of compositions based on plaster decreased by -5.1% to X tons for the first time since 2013, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 45%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, plaster article imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 56%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plaster article to Poland, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, plaster article imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X tons), more than tenfold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +14.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+2,762.3% per year) and Austria (+7.6% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plaster article to Poland, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 4% share of total imports. It was followed by Austria, with a 2.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at +11.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+1,051.1% per year) and Austria (+5.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average plaster article import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible setback. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
