Imports into Poland
In 2022, the amount of beet-pulp and bagasse imported into Poland surged to X tons, growing by 44% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 233% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 194% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Ukraine (X tons) constituted the largest beet-pulp and bagasse supplier to Poland, with a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, beet-pulp and bagasse imports from Ukraine exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Lithuania (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Ukraine totaled +38.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (-1.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (-4.1% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest supplier of beet-pulp and bagasse to Poland, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lithuania ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Ukraine amounted to +40.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (+1.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (-2.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average beet-pulp and bagasse import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Austria ($X per ton) and the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
