The Polish broom, brush, and mop market reduced to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -12.8% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 41%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for broom, brush, and mop exports from Poland, accounting for a 32% share of total exports. Moreover, broom, brush, and mop exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X units), fourfold. Ukraine (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +28.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+13.1% per year) and Ukraine (-1.6% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for brooms, brushes, and mops exports from Poland, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +28.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+16.5% per year) and the UK (+14.0% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of brooms, brushes, and mops decreased by -16.6% to X units in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +8.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then declined markedly in the following year.

China (X units), Germany (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main suppliers of broom, brush, and mop imports to Poland, with a combined 83% share of total imports.

Based on 2022 figures, broom, brush, and mop import price increased by +75.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 27% against the previous year.
